Testimonials by satisfied clients to Dr. Sally's skill as a therapist and psychologist

Like everyone, you have a unique emotional history.

Your emotional history can produce habitual patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviors that are hard to resist. We often feel we can’t escape from these patterns because they live so deeply inside us. So what can I provide?

Conscious choices.
A more fulfilling everyday life.

Knowing more about these habitual patterns can inspire clarity and compassion about your relationship with yourself and others. Understanding your conditioned reactions, which are the result of past choices and influences, leads to an end to chronic unhappiness; an end to being held captive by your past. What opens up is a doorway to self-discovery, self-compassion and transformation.

Fundamentally, what I have to offer is my full presence, deep listening and felt compassion, along with my insight, trust and connection with you. These are the most crucial factors supporting how people heal.

I also use a set of scientifically-researched therapies to help my clients move beyond anxiety, depression, stress and trauma.

Here is an overview of the approaches I use in my practice:

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) has shown excellent results in helping people who suffer from repeated bouts of unhappiness or depression. MBCT is a blend of Western cognitive psychology and Eastern mindfulness practices. In the process of MBCT, you become familiar with the thoughts and feelings that cause downward mood spirals and learn to work more wisely with them.

Heart-Based Stress Management

Developed by the Institute of HeartMath, Heart-Based Stress Management (HBSM) is a simple but powerful program to help people reduce stress, build resilience and improve overall health. When negative emotions take hold, your whole body is out of sync. HBSM works with the natural ability of your heart to shift into a harmonious rhythm – a state of coherence. When in coherence, you can respond to everyday stresses and challenges with positive choices and productive energy.

HBSM offers state-of-the-art tools and techniques such as the emWave Personal Stress Reducer – a portable feedback device that helps you assess and manage your physical and emotional responses to stress including anxiety, depression, frustration, overwhelm and ill-health.

With HBSM you can:

  • Develop greater vitality
  • Increase performance
  • Make better decisions
  • Boost immunity
  • Slow down the aging process
  • Build emotional resilience
  • Improve your relationships

EMDR

Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a highly effective way to work through stressful events, traumatic experiences and the memories associated with them. Usually these memories have interfered with our lives. The process involves alternating sounds, vibrations or hand taps that activate both sides of the brain. Such bilateral stimulation reprocesses trauma and helps you relate differently to memories frozen in time. EMDR liberates a more balanced, positive and life-affirming point of view.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a focused approach that helps identify, process and release sources of deep emotional and physical pain. The "brainspot" is a specific eye position that accesses a person’s recall of distressing or traumatic events. Brainspotting effectively releases troubling memories and promotes healing in ways that bring joy and spontaneity to life.

Positive Psychology

Positive Psychology draws on the personal strengths you already possess. Those strengths can be personality traits, virtues or other positive characteristics that you can apply in challenging situations to achieve more happiness, fulfillment and engagement in life.
